Staff Attorney

The law firm is a commercial litigation firm of over 60 attorneys with a nationwide practice, is seeking candidates for a staff attorney position in its Oakland office. This position offers the opportunity to work on and develop a sophisticated insurance coverage practice and may provide opportunities for expanded responsibilities based on performance and firm needs. Attorney will work directly with partners on sophisticated insurance coverage matters and complex commercial litigation. The firm offers a competitive salary of $150,000-$195,000 annually, plus eligibility for a discretionary performance bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree and California Bar admission
• At least 2 years of relevant litigation or legal experience.
• Candidates with substantial insurance coverage or commercial litigation experience are encouraged to apply
• Work in person full time
• Experience analyzing insurance coverage issues
• Experience reviewing commercial contracts
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to synthesize large volumes of documents into concise analyses
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Day to Day Duties

• Conduct legal research and prepare coverage opinions, memoranda, pleadings, and motions
• Analyze legal issues involving commercial litigation and insurance coverage
• Review commercial contracts and insurance policies
• Assist with discovery, document review, and case management
• Prepare deposition, mediation, and trial materials
• Communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and experts
• Coordinate projects while managing competing deadlines
• Perform other litigation support as assigned
