Pay Range Information

Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate ofthe compensation range for this position. This range takes intoaccount a variety of factors that are considered in makingcompensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and otherbusiness and organizational needs. Salary offers are determinedbased on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience, aswell as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipatedpay range is not a promise of a particular wage.

Job Description Summary

Chapman University School of Pharmacy ( CUSP ), in collaborationwith Amgen Inc., offers a fellowship in Oncology Medical Affairs toprovide comprehensive training and experience in a broad range ofMedical Affairs activities, focusing on Hematology/Oncology-relatedproducts.

The Outcome Goals of this 2-year fellowship are to prepare the graduate to:

• Actively participate in specific areas of medical affairs throughintensive, hands‑on training in settings of academia, clinicalpractices, and industry to gain expertise in medical affairs
• Promote the role and value of a clinically-trained pharmacist inMedical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry;
• Become a highly competent candidate to be recruited by thepharmaceutical industry with expertise in Oncology and medicalaffairs.

The fellow will spend the first 6 months focusing on clinical andinter‑profession experience training at CUSP, followed by18-months rotation training at Amgen Inc.

Responsibilities

• Shadow the inter-professional team at the clinical sites tounderstand real-time oncology patient care, and provide in-servicepresentations to inter-professional staff;
• Gain exposure to patient care in different clinical settingsand the financial reimbursement process;
• Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatoryrequirements at the clinical sites, and supports the Mission,Vision and Values of the clinical sites;
• Provide concise, applicable, comprehensive, and timelyresponses to requests for drug information from health careproviders under the close supervision of program director, or alicensed pharmacist, or a clinical oncologist;
• Provide liaison support between pharmacy, medical, nursing andother multidisciplinary staff in order to resolve problems andimprove medication safety;
• Participate in and accomplish CUSP Teaching Certificateprogram;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• PharmD degree and/or equivalent combination of education andexperience; licensure in California.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain professionalrelationships.
• Ability to effectively addressing and manage conflict.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other interdisciplinaryroles and cultivate inter-professional relationships.

The fellow will be trained to/on:

• Mentor and teach trainees and students
• Strong inter-professional communication skills to effectivelycommunicate across disciplines in a manner that supports a teamapproach
• Competence in oncology pharmacotherapy and supportive carethrough active participation in direct patient care and providingpatient-centered education.

Desired Qualifications

• Previous experience in pharmacy practice
• Experience in pharmacy experiential education and academia orprecepting student pharmacists.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills to sort andprioritize deadlines and work with the mentors to ensure timelinessand accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneouslymixing long-term projects with the urgency of immediatedemands.
