Staff AccountantSacramento, CA100% onsite, Full-TimeCompensation: $68,640–$85,000We are partnering with a well-established Sacramento organization seeking a Staff Accountant to join its collaborative accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a variety of responsibilities, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to contribute to a stable, mission-driven organization.The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in general accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end close, and grant accounting.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.Monitor and reconcile grant activity, ensuring expenditures are accurately recorded and comply with grant requirements.Assist with grant reporting and maintain supporting documentation for internal and external reporting.Prepare budget-to-actual analyses and financial reports.Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing activity for accuracy.Support annual audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests.Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and special accounting projects.Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls.Collaborate with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to support day-to-day financial operations.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.3+ years of progressive accounting experience.Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close.Experience with grant accounting and grant compliance is highly desirable.Knowledge of GAAP.Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting software.Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.Detail-oriented with a collaborative, team-first mindset.Why Consider This Opportunity?Stable, well-established organization with a collaborative culture.Broad exposure to general accounting, financial reporting, grant accounting, budgeting, and compliance.Opportunity to work alongside an experienced accounting leadership team.Meaningful work with long-term career stability and growth potential.Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
