Staff Accountant

Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM (Onsite)
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Our client is a rapidly growing organization in the hospitality industry with operations across multiple states. Responsibilities

• Perform account reconciliations including general ledger, balance sheet, bank, utility, and accounts receivable accounts.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals, journal entries, and other accounting deadlines.
• Complete accounting projects related to system integrations, data management, spreadsheet maintenance, and process improvements.
• Generate and analyze financial reports and supporting documentation for reconciliation and review purposes.
• Investigate discrepancies, resolve issues, and follow up with vendors or internal stakeholders as needed.
• Utilize accounting software and spreadsheets to maintain accurate financial records and reporting.
• Support the accounting team with ad hoc projects during a period of organizational growth and transition.

Qualifications

• Approximately 1+ year of accounting experience, preferably including reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, or month-end close activities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills with a willingness to ask questions and learn new processes.
• Strong technical aptitude and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently while contributing as a collaborative team member.
• Positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to support changing business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with journal entries and month-end close.
• Experience with VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and other spreadsheet functions.
• NetSuite experience.
• Real estate, property management, or REIT accounting experience.
• Accounting, Finance, or Business-related degree.
• Prior audit experience.
• Experience working within larger accounting teams.
