Staff Accountant

Location: Greater Chicago Area

Compensation: $70,000-$85,000 DOE + Bonus + Comprehensive Benefits

Growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and assisting with day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare journal entries and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
• Assist with payroll-related accounting and invoice processing.
• Prepare financial reports and support budgeting activities.
• Analyze financial information and identify discrepancies or variances.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate accounting records within ERP and financial systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and GAAP principles.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting/ERP systems.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Sage, QuickBooks, or other ERP/accounting software is preferred.
