Staff Accountant (Construction)We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with a strong background in the construction industry to support our growing accounting team. This role will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, job cost tracking, and financial reporting.
Experience with Sage 100 or ComputerEase is highly preferred.Key Responsibilities:Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including month-end and year-end close processesPrepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliationsSupport job costing and project accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of construction project expenses and revenuesMonitor work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and assist with revenue recognitionProcess invoices, subcontractor pay applications, and lien waiversAssist with accounts payable and receivable activities as neededPartner with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, and cost variancesPrepare financial reports and support internal/external auditsEnsure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policiesAssist with process improvements and system enhancementsRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field2–5 years of accounting experience, with construction industry experience requiredStrong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and project-based accountingExperience with Sage 100 or ComputerEaseProficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)Knowledge of GAAP principlesStrong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and organizational skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with subcontract billing, AIA billing, and retainage trackingExposure to multi-entity or multi-project accounting environmentsCPA or CPA track (a plus, not required)Work Environment:Onsite role based in Houston, TX Collaborative, team-oriented construction accounting environmentBenefits:Compensation Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, PTO, etc.)
