Senior Windows Server EngineerAustin, TXWe are looking for a talented individual that can provide support of Windows Server infrastructure and services. This is a technical role on a team with equally dedicated and passionate engineers supporting our Windows Server and virtualization services.Responsibilities:Design, install, and maintain Windows Servers.Experience with VMWare administration including ESXi host builds, upgrades, and migrations.Design and architecting high-availability and disaster recovery solutionsTrain and mentor other system administrators; serve as point of escalation for system issues.Troubleshoot system malfunctions and/or other unplanned outages, and provide analysis and recommendations for resolution and preventionManagement of VMware capacity including forecasting and demand management.Experience with provisioning and cloning virtual machines.Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems.Experience with maintaining and restoring virtual machine "backups" and snapshots.Experience evaluating and tuning for maximum performance as well as high availability.Experience with performing ongoing security checks to maintain the security, integrity, and backup routines.Experience should include troubleshooting, security, Group Policy design and implementation.Experience providing configuration management and security compliance for the virtual infrastructure software and hardware.Develop PowerShell scripts for administration tasks.Partner with other Infrastructure Team Members to learn, develop and enhance the skills needed to support software-based Infrastructure.Collaborate with Internal Infrastructure Teams to resolve escalated support issues.Be self-directed, provide detailed estimates and work breakdown of typical activities leveraging an agile framework.Take part in an after-hours on-call support rotation and implement solutions, patching and deployment activities after hours as needed.Adhere to established security, support, and testing policies and proceduresKeep current through contacts with professional societies, and technical publications.Maintain awareness of applicable new technologies, processes, and competitive trends.Develop and maintain relationships with partner companies.Establish and maintain effective relationships with Internal Infrastructure, Application and Business partners in order to understand needs, use, and systems to facilitate effective technology implementations.Maintain technical expertise in Microsoft, VMWare, and virtualization technologies.Research and follow industry trends around Server Engineering and provide recommendations that influence our strategic plans.Experience provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running on AWSQualifications:5+ years of experience with Windows Server operating systems5+ years of experience with VMWare2+ years of experience with PowerShell scripting.2+ years of experience with AWS.B.S. Degree in Computer Science or related IT work experience in a global information technology environment.Required Skills: Amazon Web Services (AWS) Basic Qualification: Additional Skills: Background Check: Yes Notes: -Candidates MUST be local to Austin, TX • Team Info: o Team consists of 2 Windows, 2 Linux, 3 DBAs supporting back office functions for Whole Foods • Day to Day: o Will support Windows side of the business and VMWare o Help team to get up to speed in AWS - corporate push to get up to 60-70% of application in AWS. App teams are coming to this team to guide them on how to build this process out (move applications from on prem to AWS) o 75% of servers are virtualized and still on prem and 30% application servers are in AWS o If servers have issues they would need to jump into the vm environment to see if its in vm or Windows.- working in tangent with application team on this o Troubleshooting application issues o Will have Pre-defined projects that they're working on o Will have the opportunity to build servers in VMWare (provisioning and cloning virtual machines. ESXi host builds, upgrades, and migrations) o Once a month 4 hour patching rotation – could be responsible for this specific team or the entire organizations- subject to change o 4-5 Week On-call rotation for 1 week at a time. Friday to Friday 24/7. Would only handle escalations that occur • Must Haves: o SCCM for Patching o PowerShell for patching and automation o AWS – someone who has experience migrating on-prem application servers to AWS.
