Please see below for details:Job DescriptionThe Sr Tax Analyst is responsible for the preparation of corporate income, property, excise, and franchise tax returns; assists with the preparation of the monthly income tax provision for financial reporting; maintains tax depreciation, gain/loss, and discontinued operations schedules; assists with various tax audits and government information requests.Essential FunctionsCoordinates corporate tax and other accounting transactions between the districts and General Office departmentsResponsible for preparation of corporate income, property, excise, and franchise tax returns.Prepares the monthly income tax provisions for financial reportingMaintains tax repairs deductions in Powertax.Tracks deferred tax assets; maintains tax depreciation; gain/loss on discontinued operations schedules using PowertaxMaintains and updates the Company's tax calendar; organizes and maintains tax workpapersAssists with various tax audits and government informational requests or inquiriesPrepares reports and schedules for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), federal, state, or local tax authoritiesRecords and reconciles regulatory accounts for state of California contractsPrepares Unclaimed Property filings; sends out email reminder, and reviews and reconciles Company's unclaimed propertyCollaborates with other departments to ensure that established accounting procedures are followedComplies with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements by ensuring that controls are adhered toParticipates in and supports the Company's Continuous Improvement program and projectsPerforms other duties as assigned to fulfill business operational needs and objectivesAttends meetings and trainings as directed by the company.Minimum QualificationsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) License preferredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and/or equivalent relevant experienceThree years of increasingly responsible experience working as a tax accountant in a regulatory environmentKnowledge of local, state, and federal tax regulationsKnowledge of the principles of taxable, accounting and financePrepare multi-state local, state, and federal tax returns using tax return software (Onesource)Knowledge of using PowerPlan and PowertaxProficient in the use of Microsoft Office applicationsValid California Driver LicenseKnowledge of Company policies, procedures, and Accounting business practicesKnowledge of SEC and CPUC rules and regulationsAbility to communicate effectively; both verbally and in writing, with agencies, contractors, consultants, customers, employees, and vendorsAbility to work effectively with all levels of employees and managementAbility to comply with SOX regulationsAbility to prepare complex financial and regulatory reportsDemonstrated organizational and time management skillsDemonstrated decision-making skillsDemonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer serviceGood problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsFlexible and able to prioritize workAbout Ursus: Ursus, Inc.
