Senior Data EngineerResponsible for leading the ongoing development, support, and optimization of critical business data systems and reporting platforms, both on-premises and in the cloud. As a senior member of the team, this role plays a vital part in driving the success of enterprise data solutions by designing robust SQL-based architectures, developing ETL pipelines, and ensuring the integrity, availability, and performance of business-critical systems. This position works closely with Program Managers, Project Managers, business groups, and IT support teams, requiring a strong combination of technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, communication, and planning skills.
A deep understanding of SQL development, database administration, data architecture principles, and systems integration is essential to success in this role.Location & Travel Details: This position is onsite in Fargo or Miami, with a remote option available for candidates located outside those areas.Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL-based solutions including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and advanced T-SQL queries to support business operations and reporting needsWrite and optimize complex queries across the full spectrum: joins, aggregations, subqueries, set operations, and data manipulationEnforce constraints, referential integrity, and sound database design principles to ensure data consistency and reliabilityPerform indexing strategy design, execution plan analysis, and query performance tuning to maintain high-availability, performant systemsAdminister SQL Server environments including security, user roles, permissions, and compliance with data governance standardsLead the development and implementation of data integration strategies and ETL processes using tools such as Azure Data Factory (ADF), SSIS, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) and similar platformsDesign and implement data extraction methods including batch, incremental, and change data capture (CDC) approachesDevelop data transformation and cleansing workflows ensuring validation, quality standards, and error handling throughout the pipelineDefine and manage data loading strategies (full load, incremental load) and oversee pipeline orchestration and schedulingPerform ETL performance tuning and ensure pipeline reliability, scalability, and maintainabilityDesign and maintain data warehouse structures, ensuring sound data modeling and adherence to data architecture standardsManage and automate data flow across enterprise systems, ensuring seamless interoperability and data integrityConduct thorough root cause analysis on system and data issues, implement preventive measures, and manage critical incidents to minimize business impactCreate roles, permissions, and procedures to ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and regulationsLeverage scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python to automate tasks, streamline processes, and enhance operational efficiencyUtilize Power Platform tools (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) to build business solutions and deliver meaningful reporting insightsDevelop reports and dashboards using reporting technologies such as SSRS and Crystal Reports to support business decision-makingProvide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of Systems Engineers;
