Systems Engineer – Software Engineering

Position Summary

The Systems Engineer partners withproduct management, business stakeholders,solutionarchitects, and software development teams to define and deliver software solutions that meet businessobjectives. This roleis responsible fortranslating business requirements into detailed technical requirements, developing system and software designs, and documenting the target-state architecture required to support future capabilities.

The Systems Engineer serves as the technical lead during solution definition, ensuring requirements are complete, architectures are scalable and maintainable, and software engineering teams have the technical direction needed to successfully implement complex capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders,productmanagement, and software engineering teams to translate business needs into clear, actionable functional and non-functional technical requirements.
• Develop end-to-end software solution designs, defineand documentcurrent-state and target-state architectures, andidentifythe changesrequiredto achieve future capabilities.
• Identifycross-team dependencies, technical risks, and architectural impacts across multiple software domains.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, scalabilityobjectives, and engineering best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, solution engineering, or software architecture.
• Experience leading requirements analysis andusecase definition, and producing interface control documentation,ConOpsdocumentation,and test plans.
• Experience translating business requirements into detailed technical requirements for Agile software development teams.
• Experience developing software system designs and architecture documentation.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system integration, APIs, and modern software development practices.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, or similar engineering collaboration tools.
• INCOSE, SAFe, AWS, Azure, GCP or other relevant technical certifications are preferred.

Pay Transparency

• The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $128,000.00 - $170,000.00 - $187,000.00 annually.
• For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
