In this role, you will drive the architecture, design, and delivery of highly scalable, customer-focused SaaS solutions, while influencing multiple teams and shaping the technical direction of the platform.
You will work in an agile environment, partnering closely with engineers, product managers, architects, and leadership to deliver secure, performant, and accessible applications. You will be responsible not only for building systems, but for defining how they should be built. You will champion an AI-first engineering mindset, leveraging modern AI capabilities to accelerate development, enhance product innovation, improve system reliability, and transform how teams build and operate software.Duties and ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Architecture:Own the end-to-end architecture and design of enterprise-scale, distributed systemsDefine and drive technical strategy, standards, and best practices across teamsDesign scalable APIs, services, and front-end architectures powering modern web and mobile experiencesLead complex system design discussions and influence long-term technical decisionsEvaluate and incorporate AI-driven solutions and architectures where they provide measurable valueDevelopment & Delivery:Lead the development of high-impact features and platform capabilities across the full stackEnsure solutions meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security requirementsGuide teams through all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)Contribute hands-on to critical areas of the codebase when neededQuality & Engineering Excellence:Champion a culture of quality-first developmentUtilize AI to improve test coverage, defect detection, and system observabilityReview code and system designs to ensure maintainability and scalabilityDrive improvements in CI/CD, observability, and operational excellenceCross-Team Influence:Collaborate across teams to align architecture and deliver cohesive platform solutionsLead cross-team initiatives and process improvementsPartner with product and architecture to refine requirements and technical directionOperational Excellence:Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex production issuesImprove system reliability, monitoring, and incident response practicesParticipate in and improve on-call and support processesMentorship & Growth:Mentor and develop engineers across multiple teamsRaise the bar for engineering standards, design thinking, and code qualityPromote adoption of modern technologies, tools, and methodologiesAI-First Engineering:Drive adoption of an AI-first approach across the software development lifecycleLeverage AI tools to accelerate development and improve code qualityApply AI to problem-solving including defect resolution and performance optimizationIdentify opportunities to embed AI-driven capabilities into products and systemsEstablish best practices for responsible and secure AI usageStay current with emerging AI technologiesBasic Qualifications:8+ years of experience in enterprise software developmentBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experienceStrong experience with.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, React/Angular, NoSQL databasesExperience designing distributed systemsExperience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)Strong understanding of design patterns, OOP, BDD, TDDExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (GCP preferred)Proficiency with GitFamiliarity with Agile methodologiesPreferred Qualifications:Experience leading cross-team initiativesStrong background in performance and scalabilityExperience modernizing legacy systemsExposure to observability and SRE practicesExperience with AI/ML tools in engineeringUKG is the Workforce Operating Platform that puts workforce understanding to work.
