Senior Software EngineerOur mission is to improve outcomes and decrease the cost of healthcare for spine surgery and beyond. The Carlsmed aprevo® personalized surgery platform is designed to improve the standard of care for spine surgery one patient at a time.As Senior Software Engineer, you will work on projects related to proprietary implants, instrumentation, and design automation systems to enable personalized surgery. You'll be working on our full-stack applications, focusing on building robust backend services and creating engaging user experiences.

This role offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies and shape the technical direction of our products.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement scalable backend services using Node.js, GraphQL, and Java/Kotlin (Spring Boot)Build and maintain responsive, performant frontend applications using ReactOptimize PostgreSQL databases for performance and reliabilityLead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviewsMentor junior engineers and champion engineering best practicesPartner with product managers to define requirements and delivery timelinesTroubleshoot and debug complex issues across the full stackQualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Computer ScienceExperience: 5 – 10 years of front end / back end and database experience requiredExperience with spine or orthopedics highly desiredSkillsProficiency in Node.js and server-side JavaScriptBackend experience with Java and/or Kotlin, including Spring BootExpert knowledge of GraphQL, including schema design and performance optimizationAdvanced React experience, including state management and performance tuningDeep understanding of PostgreSQL, including query optimization and schema designStrong grasp of software design patterns and engineering principlesStrong communication, problem-solving, and debugging skillsPrisma ORM, JPA, and database migrations - preferredDevOps and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) - preferredCI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks - preferredEqual Opportunity EmployerCarlsmed is an equal opportunity employer. Individual compensation is determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in incentive compensation programs and receive a comprehensive benefits package.
