Apex Systems has an immediate need for a Sr. Python Developer for a 12+ month contract with a client based in Tennessee. Our client is going through a big transformation on digital channels with heavy investment to modernize their search platform from legacy monolithic architecture to the latest MACH (Micro Services, APIs first, Cloud Native, & Headless) architecture with AI/ML enabled personalized search experience for their customers. They are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer with good eCommerce/Search experience to be part of this challenging journey to help us accomplish these goals. This position is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the new search platform.

Location: 100% Remote (CST work schedule)

Duration: 12+ month Contract

Responsibilities:

Participate in any and potentially all roles of the systems development life cycle. Roles may vary by project and assignment. This may include, but is not limited to:

• Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use
• Accurate work planning estimation and execution; accurate project and time tracking
• Work in a team environment to develop and support each other through peer code reviews
• Work in incremental Agile delivery model with product-centric teams to develop enterprise solutions

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required
• Minimum of 5 - 10 years of hands-on Development experience designing, architecting, and developing software solutions using Python
• Desired: Bash shell scripting (on Linux)
• Desired: Experience with Spring framework, Spring Boot, etc.
• Desired: Hand-on experience in working with one of the following: Apache Solr, Lucidworks Fusion, Elasticsearch
• Strong understanding of REST APIs design and development
• Advanced problem-solving, technical domain, and analytical skills
• Ability to create effective & simple technical designs and estimation of the work to be performed.

Required Skills: Minimum of 6 years of hands-on Development experience designing, architecting, and developing software solutions using Python. Cloud native development experience Hands on experience in developing web applications implementing Model View Control architecture using Django, Flask web application frameworks. Developed web applications, RESTful web services and APIs using Python Flask, Django; good knowledge of web services with protocols SOAP, REST. Experience with MACH Architecture: (Micro Services, APIs first, Cloud Native, & Headless)
