Sr. Project Manager – Data Center Migration

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead a large‑scale data center migration initiative involving approximately 300 servers. This role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the migration of servers and applications to a new data center environment by the end of 2026. The Project Manager will work closely with infrastructure, application, and vendor teams to ensure minimal disruption and successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of a multi-year data center migration project involving ~300 servers
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, dependencies, and milestones through the end of 2026
  • Coordinate migration activities across infrastructure, application, security, and vendor teams
  • Assess server and application readiness, including identifying systems that can be migrated “as-is” versus those requiring upgrades or remediation due to version constraints
  • Identify and manage applications that cannot be migrated and coordinate alternative solutions or decommissioning plans
  • Ensure proper sequencing and timing of migrations to minimize business impact and downtime
  • Track risks, issues, and dependencies; develop mitigation and contingency plans
  • Facilitate regular status meetings and provide clear reporting to stakeholders and leadership
  • Manage change control, documentation, and communication throughout the migration lifecycle
  • Ensure migrations align with organizational standards, security requirements, and compliance guidelines

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as an IT Project Manager, preferably in infrastructure or data center initiatives
  • Proven experience managing large-scale server or data center migration projects
  • Strong understanding of server environments, application dependencies, and version compatibility challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional technical teams and external vendors
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong risk management and problem‑solving capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing long-term, phased migration programs
  • Familiarity with legacy systems and application modernization challenges
  • Experience working in manufacturing or enterprise-scale environments
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification

Success Factors

  • Ability to manage complexity across multiple moving parts and timelines
  • Strong attention to detail with a strategic, big-picture mindset
  • Proactive communication and leadership in high-impact infrastructure initiatives
