Sr Process Safety Engineer

Job Description

nsight Global is looking for a Senior Engineer, Process Safety Lead to drive process safety programs within a high-hazard battery manufacturing environment. On a daily basis, this individual will lead and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and NFPA standards while maintaining safety documentation, SOPs, and engineering controls tied to production hazards. They will partner cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to evaluate high-risk equipment, define inspection and preventative maintenance standards, and support safe process design.

This role will heavily focus on risk identification and mitigation—facilitating analyses such as PHA, LOPA, and DHA for both existing operations and new capital projects, while providing technical guidance on chemical hazards like NMP exposure, thermal runaway, and electrolyte handling. The engineer will also track safety metrics and KPIs, generate compliance reports, and support internal/external audits to ensure closure of findings. Additionally, they will lead training on process safety topics, support emergency response planning and drills, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen overall plant safety culture and operational reliability. This role can pay between 118K - 149K based on an evaluation of relevant experience and education level.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical ) or related field.

7+ years of process safety or EHS experience within a high-hazard manufacturing environment (chemical, battery, or similar)

Strong expertise in Process Safety Management (PSM) and regulatory compliance (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, NFPA)

Hands-on experience leading risk assessments such as PHA, LOPA, HAZOP, or Dust Hazard Analysis

Ability to interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, process flow diagrams) and evaluate high-risk processes and equipment
