Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.The Precision Control Actuation System (PCAS) department is seeking a highly experienced Hardware Lead to provide technical authority and oversight of one of our flagship development efforts where the team will develop, build, test, and productionize a Common CAS. We value development experience, a cost mindset, and a drive to successfully transition our CAS into production.What You Will DoP5 – At this grade level, you will be expected to work autonomously, have expert or mastery level knowledge within the control mechanism development domain.Responsibilities may include but are not limited to detailed mechanical design including electromechanical actuators and airframe design, complex packaging, test design and execution, and systems engineering.You will be expected to flex responsibilities based on the current phase of the program and the respective skill set of the team.What You Will LearnThe PCAS organization provides ample opportunities for hands-on hardware work, with a dedicated lab space.PCAS mechanical engineers are exposed to a variety of lab activities including engineering builds, hardware integration, hardware tuning, and hardware verification.The PCAS organization provides a strong technical learning environment with a dedicated control system technology pyramid comprised of engineering fellows.PCAS mechanical engineers are provided the opportunity for direct access to these subject matter experts, fostering accelerated technical growth.Qualifications You Must HaveB.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Math or related science degree.A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering design.

Or 7 years related experience with an advanced degree.Experience developing flight control systems for aerospace applications OR Experience in mechanical mechanism designQualifications We PreferExperience using CREO or similar 3D CAD toolsAdvanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or PhysicsExperience working with and integrating hardwareExperience in transitioning products from design/development and into productionAppreciation and experience in successfully managing unit costSystems engineering design and developmentExperience with dSPACE Real-time test systemsProven ability to deconstruct higher level tasks into discrete lower-level work packages and tasksAbility to estimate project / tasks level of effortAbility to cross collaborate with geographically distributed teamsAbility to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non-technical and management audiencesProficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
