Senior Principal Engineer Hardware – Site Engineer (26‑015) – R
Location: Colorado Springs, CO.
We are looking for a Sr Principal Engineer Hardware – Site Engineer to join our Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration team. This role is essential to support the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
Position Overview
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System, enabling planning and orchestration of missile defense operations. This team deputy/admin position requires managing the team's administrative tasks, multiple projects in parallel, and pop‑up functions as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of site drawings and plans.
- Review of the content and details of technical products.
- Act as a technical interface between the Missile Defense National Team (MDNT) working‑level counterparts and the MDA customer.
- Document work using Agile methodologies, update as required, and coordinate with team leadership on work completion.
- Develop Basis of Estimates (BOE) and Engineering Estimates (EE), providing hour estimates and justification for completion, along with installation material estimates.
- Serve as a member of a focused team that interfaces with peer‑level team members, the Deployment Team Leadership, and NT management to ensure high‑quality products are delivered on time and within available resources.
- May serve in project leadership roles and represent the organization as the prime customer contact on significant technical matters under contract.
- Collaborate with the team, both in person and remotely.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently hold a DoD‑issued Secret security clearance.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field with 8 years of experience; or Master's Degree with 6 years of experience; or 12 years of experience as an alternative to a degree.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently in a team environment with limited guidance.
- Knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and techniques; proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Excel; strong understanding of drafting and hardware engineering standards.
- Basic understanding of networks (VLANs, switch stacking, routers, etc.).
- Experience in configuration control, bill of materials development, drafting and design engineering during system design, development, and deployment activities.
- Control and manage all drawings for the program.
- Completing required documentation and drawings in accordance with the Systems and/or Hardware Engineer's direction.
- Work with fielding and mission‑success organizations to ensure timely and accurate documentation.
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Prior experience in Systems Engineering/Hardware Engineering, project management, and strong communication skills.
- Prior C2BMC experience highly desired.

Additional Information
Primary Level Salary Range: $117,500 – $176,300. The range is a general guideline; actual offers consider scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
