Job Description

A CRT licensed Mammography Technologist responsible for performing screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and interventional/invasive procedures in the Mammography Department. The technologist produces ACR quality images for both screening and diagnostic exams, interacts with clinicians and other departments to coordinate patient care, adapts to the radiology information system (RIS) and PACS systems, participates in performance‑improvement activities, and may serve as a resource and trainer for other imaging technologists. The position requires competence with adults, geriatric, and adolescent patients, and compliance with all regulatory mandates for mammography.

Qualifications

  • Principal level requires a minimum of 5 years of mammography experience; Senior level requires 3 years.
  • Graduate of a JCERT radiology technology training program.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts and cover weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to assist at any UCSF Medical Center location.
  • Certification: CRT (M) Mammography, CRT (R) Radiologic Technologist, BLS CPR.
  • Proof of at least 40 documented hours of mammography‑specific training if certified after April 27, 1999.
  • Proof of having performed at least 200 mammography exams in the last 24 months (rolling).
  • Proof of at least 15 CEU’s in mammography in the last 36 months (rolling).
  • Proof of MQSA‑approved 8 hours of Digital and 3-D Tomosynthesis training.
  • Proof of initial 25 supervised mammograms.
  • Additional principal level qualifications:
    • Work with minimal supervision.
    • Perform job duties reliably, responsibly, and promptly.
    • Manage workload effectively under varying patient volume.
    • Respect all individuals, regardless of background, beliefs, or gender.
    • Knowledge of RIS and downtime procedures, including scheduling and completion of exams.
    • Knowledge of the Medical Center’s electronic health record and ordering systems.
    • Knowledge of Breast Imaging systems and patient/worklist management.
    • Knowledge of the Incident Reporting System.
    • Leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ARRT (R) and/or ARRT (M).
  • Breast ultrasound experience.
  • CRT Fluoroscopy License.
