Sr Payroll Analyst

Senior Analyst, PayrollThe Senior Analyst, Payroll serves as a key member of the Payroll team, supporting accurate and compliant payroll operations while leading strategic payroll initiatives. This role partners closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, Legal, Labor Relations, and Operations to support payroll processing, acquisitions, union payroll administration, compliance, audits, system enhancements, and process improvements. The position plays an integral role in managing union payroll activities, including contract interpretation, remittance processing, and the monthly reconciliation of union-related deductions, employer contributions, and payments.ResponsibilitiesSupport end-to-end payroll processing activities as needed, ensuring timely and accurate payroll executionReview and audit payroll inputs, calculations, and outputs for compliance with company policies and regulatory requirementsResearch and resolve complex payroll issues related to earnings, taxes, deductions, garnishments, and timekeepingServe as an escalation point for payroll inquiries from employees, managers, and HR partnersAssist with quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including tax reconciliations and reporting.Support payroll-related due diligence activities for Mandamp;As, including the migration and integration of acquired employee populations into Workday payroll and related systems.Evaluate payroll practices, earnings, deductions, and tax configurations during acquisition onboardingPartner with Labor Relations and HR teams to support collective bargaining agreement implementations and updatesPrepare, review and submit union remittance payments accurately and timelyPerform monthly reconciliation of union-related payroll deductions, employer contributions, and remittance payments to ensure accuracy and complianceResearch and resolve remittance discrepancies, contribution variances, and union payroll exceptionsMonitor compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable regulatory requirements, identifying opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, controls and efficiencyAnalyze payroll data, trends, and metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and operational improvementsEnsure compliance with wage and hour regulations, payroll tax requirements, and company policiesSupport internal and external audits and implement corrective actions when necessarySupport automation initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities.Qualifications and skillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred5-8+ years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll processing, compliance, and payroll systemsExperience supporting acquisitions, payroll integrations, or organizational transitions preferredExperience administering union payroll and interpreting collective bargaining agreements strongly preferredExperience with Workday Payroll required or strongly preferredMulti-state payroll experience preferredAdvanced knowledge of payroll regulations, taxation, wage and hour laws, and payroll accountingExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skillsAdvanced Excel and reporting capabilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsA member of the S&P 500 Index, Martin Marietta is an American-based company and a leading supplier of heavy building materials – including aggregates, cement, ready-mixed concrete and asphalt.
