Sr. Optical Transceiver System Engineer

We are seeking a Sr. System Engineer specializing in switch-side optical transceiver validation, performance optimization. In this role, you will develop and execute test plans for optical modules on data center switches, verify performance and interoperability, and debug system-level issues. The ideal candidate is familiar with SONiC, ONIE, or EOS network operating systems, experienced with one or more mainstream data center switch platforms, and skilled in Python scripting for test automation and data analysis.

You will work closely with design and system teams to ensure Terahop's high-performance optical modules meet rigorous performance, compliance, and interoperability requirements in customer deployments, and you will regularly present qualification results and reports directly to customer engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive switch-side optical transceiver qualification test plans covering functional, performance, interoperability, and reliability validation
• Configure, validate, and debug optical modules on data center switches (e.g., NVIDIA, Arista, Celestica) running SONiC, EOS, ONIE or similar systems
• Automate test execution, data logging, and analysis using Python scripts
• Verify optical module compliance with CMIS, SFF-8636, and other industry standards, including diagnostics, state machines, and memory maps
• Analyze test results, prepare qualification reports, and collaborate with firmware engineer, Test engineer and design team to resolve issues
• Replicate and troubleshoot customer-side module issues in the lab
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present qualification test results and reports directly to customers, and to lead technical discussions with customer engineering teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and data processing
• Understanding of optical module architecture and requirements.
• Understand CMIS standards
• Have troubleshooting skills in a switch environment, with the ability to work independently on test planning, execution, and issue resolution
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable presenting qualification reports and findings to customers and cross-functional stakeholders
