Navy Integrated Training Environment Network AdministratorVirginia Beach, VA Top Secret Polygraph Unspecified Career Level not specified $86,177 - $130,000Job DescriptionThe Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) Network Administrator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting network connectivity and infrastructure on the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN). You will support the operation and maintenance of multiple networks across different classification levels, ensuring continuous connectivity for customers and sites. This position is based in the Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC), which functions as the helpdesk for network operations support.The role includes diagnosing and resolving WAN circuit issues, equipment failures, router and switch configurations, firewall ACLs, VoIP device registration, and cryptographic device configuration and keying.
You will coordinate with Navy, DISA, and commercial circuit providers for implementation and troubleshooting, maintain Information Assurance compliance (including IOS upgrades and configuration changes), and support remote sites in restoring network services.What you will do:Maintain smooth operation of local area, wide area, and virtual private networks (VPNs)Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation or reconfiguration of network hardware/softwareConfigure and maintain routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, and gatewaysMonitor network performance and conduct short- and long-range capacity planningTroubleshoot connectivity issues at the hardware, software, and protocol/packet levelMaintain and update network documentation, operational instructions, and SOPsCoordinate with third-party vendors for maintenance and upgradesEnsure compliance with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)What you must have Education & Experience (one of the following):Bachelor's degree in a related field + 9 years relevant experienceMaster's degree in a related field + 7 years relevant experiencePhD/JD in a related field + 4 years relevant experienceHigh school diploma/equivalent + 13 years relevant experienceTechnical Knowledge:Demonstrated experience in network operations and support, including LAN/WAN installation and troubleshootingProficiency with Cisco networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols, Cisco IOS)Experience with firewall ACL configuration and troubleshooting (ASA or equivalent)Ability to troubleshoot at the protocol/packet level using tools such as sniffers, protocol analyzers, NetFlow, and log analysisFamiliarity with DoD STIGs and Information Assurance compliance requirementsExperience in a network operations center (NOC) or help desk environment, including ticketing and customer communicationsCredintials:Current or Active U.S. Top Secret clearance (must maintain throughout employment)U.S. citizenshipCurrent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification/equivalent or higher (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP)Willingness to work periodic shifted schedules, including evenings, nights, and weekendsPreferred Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related disciplineCCNP or CCNA certificationExperience with multicast routing, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and PIMExperience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds)Familiarity with Cisco VoIP, PoE switches, and Call ManagerExperience with NSA Type 1 cryptographic devices and keying material (e.g., KG-175D, KG-75)Knowledge of network security technologies including VRFs and port-security/802.1xPhysical Requirements Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
