Description
The Worldwide Ergonomics and Safety Experience (WESE) team is looking for a Senior Program Manager to be the single-threaded owner of operational strategy and program management for a portfolio of safety programs that directly reduce musculoskeletal disorders and drives cultural safety change across hundreds of Amazon fulfillment sites. This is a high-visibility role responsible for defining the multi-year roadmap, driving measurable efficiency gains, and delivering results that scale. You will own the operating model for how WESE plans, funds, deploys, and measures its highest-priority initiatives. This means partnering with technical SME teams as they identify operational problems and scope solutions (both near-term and long-term). You will lead a team responsible for establishing the PM plan to deploy structural projects end-to-end, document efficiencies and benefits in cost, speed, and quality. You will partner with Directors, VPs, and cross-functional leaders across Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Tech to indirectly influence resources, drive prioritization, and deliver complex programs on time. The ideal candidate is a high-performing Amazonian with a proven track record of identifying and solving operational problems at scale. You lead a team of Program Managers accountable for program delivery velocity, Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) quality, financial performance, precise narrative business reviews, and driving cross-team progress against established goals. You self-identify areas of opportunity, present solutions to leadership, and drive execution with a close lens on quantitative results and operational outcomes. You are an accomplished Amazon writer who communicates results to senior leadership with precision and clarity.
A day in the life
Your morning starts with a portfolio review. You check deployment progress against plan, inspect financial dashboards for variance, and identify which projects need intervention. You run a stand-up with your PM team focused on delivery commitments, blockers, and CAR quality. Two submissions come back for rework because the business case lacks measurable outcomes. Mid-morning, you lead a cross-functional working session to drive prioritization for the next quarter. You own the agenda: what's launching, what's behind plan, what resources need to shift, and what we stop doing. You then check in with individual PMs to confirm they are on pace, financials are tracking, and stakeholder commitments are being met. After lunch, you draft a 6-pager for a VP review. You connect efficiency gains to headcount leverage, tie project outcomes to injury reduction, and make the investment case for scaling what is working. You coach a team member on tightening their narrative before it goes forward. In the afternoon, you work with Operations and Finance on quarterly re-planning, confirming project prioritization against business goals and available funding. You close the day with 1:1s focused on career development and holding the team to the bar on delivery and quality. You set the pace for this team. You move between strategy, execution, people development, and financial stewardship. The through-line is delivering operational efficiency that directly supports Amazon's vision of being the global benchmark for safety excellence across like industries.
