Senior Litigation Counsel

The Senior Litigation Counsel will be a member of MGA Entertainment’s in-house Litigation Department, representing the company’s broad portfolio of toys, entertainment, and other consumer products, in matters around the world that raise interesting, challenging, and even issues of first impression in areas of intellectual property and entertainment. The Senior Litigation Counsel will be responsible for handling disputes, advising internal business clients, and litigating cases as counsel-of-record (both independently and under supervision of other in-house litigators) or in collaboration with outside counsel. The Senior Litigation Counsel will work on a wide range of matters, including general commercial disputes, intellectual property disputes (copyright, trademark, and patent), products liability, employment litigation, third‑party subpoenas, and other matters.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing claims and developing litigation and early case‑resolution strategy
  • Conducting fact investigations and legal research
  • Drafting legal filings, including pleadings, law and motion briefs, and discovery
  • Handling or assisting with federal and state court proceedings (including court appearances), as well as arbitrations, mediations, and depositions
  • Advising business clients and management regarding the strength of claims and defenses, dispute avoidance, and resolution
  • Negotiating and documenting dispute resolutions
  • Responding to third‑party subpoenas
  • Managing and working collaboratively with outside counsel, as needed
  • Issuing and managing litigation holds
  • Managing and supervising e‑discovery

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Must have a JD from an accredited school of law
  • Must have a 4‑year undergraduate degree
  • 10‑12 years experience as a successful litigation attorney with extensive deposition and trial experience.
  • Must be admitted to practice in California

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experience and fluency with state and federal electronic court filing systems
  • Well organized, flexible, and multi‑task oriented
  • Must be a motivated self‑starter who can work independently
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and make decisions
  • Strong, driven, and hard working
  • Litigation: Deposition and trial experience a must

Salary

$175,000 - $250,000 /year
