Labcorp is seeking a Senior Employee Relations Partner to join our team in Durham, NC, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality when managing employee relations (ER) issues and investigating reported ER cases.
  • Advocate for equitable and fair treatment, ensuring practices align with the company’s core values.
  • Handle investigations involving sensitive matters including violations of anti-harassment, EEO, Code of Conduct, Compliance, Conditions of Employment, Workplace Violence policies, gross misconduct, theft, or violation of federal, state, or local law.
  • Participate in global ER projects and activities, such as leadership development and upskilling; mentor and support junior team members.
  • Identify opportunities for alignment and improvement globally, partnering with ER experts to deliver initiatives such as Investigation and Compliance leadership or Learning and Development leadership.
  • Analyze ER trends and recommend actions, solutions and strategies to address opportunities.
  • Serve as a first-level reviewer responsible for terminations within the area of business responsibility.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, helping them balance business goals with employee welfare.
  • Collaborate on various ER projects and activities; provide guidance to ensure fair treatment and compliance.
  • Support high-risk investigations and advise on ER programs and policies; interface with employees, management, legal, HR Business Partners and external stakeholders to maintain positive relations and resolve workplace issues.
  • Provide proactive training needs assessments to ensure upskilling of leaders.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, law, human resources, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of HR experience including complex employee relations investigations.
  • 1+ years conducting investigations and advising on sensitive and complex ER issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of Labor Relations experience.
  • 1+ years of experience analyzing complex data, synthesizing insights, and developing executive-level PowerPoint presentations that drive informed business decisions.
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience.
  • HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, GPHR, CIPD, etc.).

  • Customer service focus and organizational skills; ability to prioritize time-sensitive issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and train others on investigative processes; summarize cases succinctly for peers, legal, or ER leaders.
  • Awareness of multiple HR disciplines (e.g., compensation, benefits, talent acquisition).
  • Familiarity with case management tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with minimal guidance; flexibility to handle competing priorities in a team environment.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement and innovation.

Role Scope and Schedule

The Senior Employee Relations Partner will conduct high-risk investigations, manage employee issues to resolution, and advise on ER programs and policies. This role interfaces with all employees, including management, legal, HRBPs and external stakeholders, to maintain positive employee relations and resolve workplace issues. Provides a proactive approach to determine training needs and ensure upskilling of leaders. Applicants living within 35 miles of Burlington, NC or Durham, NC may follow a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three in-office days per week at the assigned location.
