The company is privately held with strong financial backing, employs thousands worldwide, and is known for vertical integration, in-house engineering, and a tenure-rich, engineering-driven culture.Position SummaryThe Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer leads the design, development, and validation of C-based firmware that powers the electronic controls inside premium laundry products. This is a senior individual contributor and project lead role (no direct reports) that partners closely with electrical engineering on hardware bring-up, communication protocols, motor controls, and HMI development.

The role also mentors junior firmware engineers and helps shape coding standards, tooling, and best practices across the team.What You'll DoLead full-lifecycle firmware development in C for microcontroller-based platforms including machine controllers, HMIs, and I/O boardsWrite firmware design specs, test plans, and execute unit, integration, and system-level validationDevelop and maintain low-level device drivers, bootloaders, communication stacks, and real-time control logicImplement and debug embedded protocols including CAN, Modbus, UART, SPI, and I2CPartner with electrical engineers on hardware/firmware integration, board bring-up, and peripheral configurationDebug at the hardware level using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD probes, and protocol analyzersEnsure firmware meets regulatory requirements (UL, CE, FCC) and follows functional safety and cybersecurity best practicesEstablish and enforce coding standards (MISRA-C), static analysis, code review processes, and version control discipline using GitSupport motor drive firmware and embedded control strategiesMentor junior firmware engineers and lead by example on best practicesSpecify microcontrollers and supporting components for new product designsProvide expert-level firmware support to production and field issuesWhat We're Looking ForRequired:BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical degree8+ years of production embedded firmware development in CHands-on experience with ARM Cortex-M, STM32, PIC, Renesas, or similar MCUsStrong embedded comms protocol experience: CAN, Modbus, UART, SPI, I2CBare-metal and/or RTOS (FreeRTOS preferred) experienceHardware-level debugging with JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzersExperience with MISRA-C, static analysis tools, and unit testing for embedded systemsStrong Git workflow experienceExcellent technical writing and documentation skillsComfortable in a hands-on lab environment with live electrical equipmentStrongly Preferred:Motor drive firmware or real-time control experienceConsumer or commercial appliance industry backgroundFunctional safety experience (IEC 60730, IEC 61508 or similar)Embedded cybersecurity exposureMentorship experience without formal managementLogistics100% onsite at the Ripon, WI headquartersRelocation assistance available for the right candidateCandidates relocating need to be fully bought in (family, schools, etc.)Standard sit/stand work with light lifting of test equipment and product hardwareCompensation and BenefitsBase salary $102,000-$126,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO.
