Uses research techniques to analyze and validate design or theory concepts. Interacts with senior level professionals both internal and external to AE.Responsibilities:Technology solutions and design according to power conversion platform requirementsWork closely with Advanced Engineering on technologies and solutions that drive performance such as conversion efficiency, power density, power level scalingActively involved in design conceptualization, mechanical packaging, drive schematic generation and PCB layout, and manage critical parts list of product technology platformEstablish solutions to optimize performance and cost trade-offsCreate simulation models, prepare design calculations for sizing up of magnetics and semicons, and correlate with actual performanceConduct circuit breadboarding/fine-tuning, power-up, testing and verification of design parameters Prepare thorough documentation on new technology blocks and theory of operationCollaborate with Design Teams and ensure successful technology transferDesign Process Improvement and Continuous LearningInitiate design and development calculation tools, simulation worksheetsDevelop strategies for effectively evaluating new technologies to surface potential weakness, include test for margins, prepare detailed design test resultResearch on published solutions, related literature and relevant technology to aid in technology development workParticipate in project discussions and design reviewsCross-functional work with Mechanical Engineer Tech Core, Thermal Engineer, PCAD, Safety, Design Team Electrical EngineerWork Environment:Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts.Environment: Standard office environment.Qualifications:Knowledgeable in Switch Mode Power Supply topologies and failure analysisDesign experience in liquid-cooling, or low-profile conduction-cooled designsVery good communication skillsTeam player in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment with a strong sense of ownershipExperience:5+ years relevant work experience in the following:Switch Mode Power Supply DesignUsing Simulation and Calculation Tools in product development such as Simplis/Simetrix, Mathcad, and knowledge of PLECS and PSIM a plusEducation:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Communications EngineeringCompensation:As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
