Job Description
nReporting to the Electrical Design Manager, the Sr. Electrical Design Engineer presents an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional pertaining to design and controls engineering functions of power distribution equipment. As a specialized engineer in switchgear, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical switchgear systems for various industrial, commercial, and utility applications. Your role will involve creating innovative solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing technical leadership to a team of engineers. As an experienced professional you will be responsible for individually contributing to product development & engineering by executing advanced tasks, processes, techniques, and procedures in a technical support role.
nRESPONSIBILITIES
nLead the design and engineering of electrical switchgear systems, including medium and low voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and control panels.
nCreate a BOM list for critical design components.
nReview and approve electrical drawings for manufacture.
nDevelop detailed electrical schematics, layout drawings, according to client specifications and pre-established budget.
nOversee the integration of switchgear with power distribution systems and control systems.
nFamiliarized and confident with the business R&D workflow, working methods and have a certain technical accumulation in the professional field, and master the professional knowledge and skills in this field.
nProvide expert guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
nReview and approve design calculations, technical reports, and project documentation.
nEnsure adherence to industry standards, codes, and best practices.
nComplete work independently and receive high level direction of work on projects.
nApply creative approaches and procedures to the solution of well-defined problems.
nManage switchgear design projects from concept through to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
nCoordinate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients, to ensure project requirements are met.
nConduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
nWork with the project management team to ensure all project timelines and goals are met or exceeded on multiple projects at any given time.
nEnsure that all designs meet relevant standards such as IEC, ANSI, UL, and IEEE.
nConduct thorough testing and validation of switchgear systems to guarantee reliability and performance.
nCreation of test scripts to prove out functionality of control schemes.
nOversee the creation and maintenance of documentation for compliance and regulatory purposes.
nIndependently carry out R&D work on the existing technology platform, and independently undertake the R&D task of a module or component, complete product design, testing, device selection, documentation, etc.
nIdentify and implement improvements in switchgear design and control systems.
nStay current with advancements in electrical engineering technologies and industry trends.
nLead research and development efforts to integrate new technologies and methodologies.
nContribute to the development of new practices and processes within the design team and assist in implementation of these to improve department performance.
nDevelop technical solutions that are innovative and consistent with organization objectives to a wide range of complex problems.
nImplement sustainable practices to achieve sustainable outcomes in all facets of practical and technical project work.
nIdentifies practical opportunities for improvement and innovation.
nInterface with clients to understand their needs and provide technical solutions.
nPrepare and present technical proposals and reports.
nProvide technical support and troubleshooting during and after project implementation.
nIndependently respond and resolve general technical issues related to production and market problems.
nSALARY: 120K

nSkills and Requirements
nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field; Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
nMust Haves:
n• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field; Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
n• 5-8 years of experience in electrical design in Power CAN BE ANY POWER EXPEIRIENCE SUCH AS BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Power distribution, UPS, Switchgear, control systems, etc…
n• Strong Project Management Experience (managing multiple projects at once)
n• Proficiency with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP). C- Electrical is Preferred
n• Strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements (UL 891 & UL 1558) Plusses:
n• Certification in Project Management (PMP) or similar.
n• Strong focus on switchgear and control systems.
n• Strong Experience in Switchgear Design, Electrical Protection Systems, and Control Panel Design.
n• Experience with advanced switchgear technologies and smart grid systems.
n• Knowledge of emerging technologies such as digital substations and IoT applications.
