CNC ProgrammerUnder limited supervision, this position is responsible for CNC program creation, proofing, and implementation. This position will support plant-wide Lean efforts, using real-time creativity and frugality to remove waste and improve NC programs, tools, and equipment.Responsibilities include:Responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines, such as but not limited to, lathes and milling machinesMaintain at all times the highest levels of Accuracy and Quality in all machining operationsInterprets drawings or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.3, 4, & 5 axis programming of milling and routing machines (strong focus on 5-axis programming)Hands-on set-up and program verification on all machinesSupports design and fabrication of all necessary CNC holding fixturesDetects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality of production. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.Lead/coordinate the training activities of all machine operatorsAssist engineers with product tool designs and participate in waste reduction and manufacturing process improvementsKnowledge:Strong understanding of CNC machines, operations, and languagesUnderstand operations and setup of manual lathes and millsWorking knowledge of Lean manufacturing, TPM, and visual factory with a focus on waste reductionExperience interpreting engineering drawings, with a solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T per ASME Y14.5M)Extensive knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments.
