Sr. CNC Programmer and MachinistWe are looking for an experienced CNC programmer and machinist who is excited about manufacturing development and production parts for launch vehicles and defense systems. We seek team members who can think critically when programming and machining to improve hardware designs and manufacturing processes. This role will require specific skill sets with multi-axis Mill programming and machining. Programming will be completed using Mastercam and verified using Vericut. Parts to be machined on Haas Machining Centers.
Must have the ability and eagerness to both program and machine components. This role will primarily focus on 5th Axis Milling work supporting both production and development hardware for various components, specifically launch vehicle engine and space system hardware. In an S5 level role, you will be expected to take projects to completion with a high level of autonomy, mentor junior machinists, and drive shop and process improvements.We machine parts from both billet material and additively manufactured parts:AluminumSteelStainless SteelInconelTypes of Machines:Haas UMC 750 & UMC 1000Haas VM3Haas Gantry MillResponsibilities:Use Mastercam to create new programs and review/edit existing CNC programs for production and development hardwareAs required, use Vericut to validate programs and maintain revision control on CNC programsAnalyze piece parts for DFM to ensure that the parts are optimized for manufacturing and collaborate with engineering to recommend drawing changes as neededTake feedback from engineering and manufacturing teams to rapidly iterate on part processes and designsSet up, prove out, and operate programs on 3 & 5-axis mills. Perform in-process and first article inspectionsSupport and mentor junior programmers and machinistsWork with support teams to ensure machine care and preventative maintenance activities are completedDesign and machine custom tooling and fixturingTake an active role in driving machine shop process improvements, ensuring shop cleanliness and organization is maintained to a high standardSubmit purchase orders for tooling per job requirements and add tools to vendor managed inventory (VMI) list for standard componentsSupport with material loading and handlingBasic Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED or EquivalentMinimum 10+ years of CNC Mill programming and machining experience, including demonstratable expert working knowledge of Mastercam, superalloy machining, Haas CNC Machines and Controls- OR -Minimum 6+ years of CNC Mill programming and machining experience ANDCertification and/or provable expert working knowledge of MastercamCertification and/or provable expert working knowledge of Haas CNC Machines and Haas ControlsExpert in superalloy machiningAvailability to work a standard 10-hour shift schedule (50 hours per week, overtime included). Occasional weekends to support critical deadlines.Required Skills and Experiences:Expert proficiency in programming multi-axis CNC mills using MastercamHands-on experience setting up, proving out, and operating 3- and 5-axis Haas machining centersAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and controlled technical documentationExperience machining superalloys and aerospace-grade materials to tight tolerancesWorking knowledge of in-process and first-article inspection methods and toolsPreferred Skills and Experiences:Experience in interpreting GD&T and providing feedback to engineers on best practices for ease of machining and inspection.Ability to read/interpret and work from controlled technical documentation and processes such as engineering drawings, layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures, manufacturing instructions, schematics, and parts listsProficient usage of a PC; experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), shop floor management software (ERP), and related programsStrong written and verbal communication skills, excellent concentration with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy, great organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detailExperience in aerospace, medical, or automotive manufacturing.Strong knowledge of inspection tools and inspection processesExperience with Mastercam Blade Expert and impeller machining.Hands-on experience with metal 3D printed components.Experience with Vericut verification softwareExperience with Microsoft Office productsFamiliarity with ISO9001 and AS9100DAdditional Requirements:Ability to sit, stand, squat, and walk for extended periods of time.Ability to occasionally ascend/descend on ladders and/or work on rooftops.Ability to lift 25lbs repeatedly and often throughout the day.Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone, and telepresence.Can work in an indoor manufacturing environment 70%, outdoors 30%Travel between our El Segundo (90%) and Port of Long Beach (10%) facilities as required. Occasional travel to our other in-state and out-of-state sites may be required.$44 - $57 an hour This is the lowest-to-highest compensation range we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
