Sr. BIM Electrical EngineerLocation: Queens County, New York Work Model: Onsite / Project-Based Job Type: Full-TimeClient is seeking a highly experienced Sr. BIM Electrical Engineer to lead electrical engineering and BIM coordination efforts across complex commercial, industrial, institutional, and mission-critical projects.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Revit-based electrical design, electrical systems coordination, BIM workflows, and construction-phase engineering support. This role requires strong leadership capabilities, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams while ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA, and project-specific standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the electrical engineering lifecycle from conceptual design through project closeout.Design and maintain advanced Revit models for: power systems, lighting systems, grounding systems, telecommunications, fire alarm and life safety systems.Conduct technical calculations including arc flash analysis, voltage drop analysis, fault current calculations, load calculations.Review and apply NEC, NFPA, AHJ, and client-specific requirements.Ensure constructability and seamless coordination across all trades.BIM Coordination & System IntegrationLead BIM/Revit coordination with architectural, structural, and MEP teams.Conduct BIM clash detection reviews and model walkthroughs.Maintain BIM standards and compliance with company/client protocols.Coordinate project deliverables using BIM 360/Client and collaboration platforms.Construction & Field SupportReview shop drawings, as-builts, and field modifications.Support field teams with troubleshooting and design adjustments.Conduct site inspections to validate installation compliance with engineered plans.Provide engineering guidance during construction execution phases.Project Management & CoordinationSupport project schedules, RFIs, submittals, and budget tracking.Manage multiple engineering priorities and shifting project deadlines.Coordinate with project managers, contractors, vendors, and clients.Provide technical consulting throughout project execution.Team Leadership & MentorshipMentor junior engineers and BIM technicians.Lead training initiatives related to Revit workflows and electrical design standards.Drive process improvements and BIM optimization initiatives.Foster collaboration and engineering excellence within project teams.Required QualificationsMust-Have SkillsAdvanced Revit ProficiencyElectrical BIM CoordinationElectrical Systems DesignNEC & NFPA Code ComplianceArc Flash AnalysisVoltage Drop & Fault Current CalculationsPower & Lighting System ModelingClash Detection & BIM CoordinationConstruction Documentation ReviewTechnical TroubleshootingCross-Functional Team CollaborationProject Coordination & SchedulingEducationBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.ExperienceMinimum 6+ years of hands-on experience as an Electrical Engineer within construction, design-build, electrical contracting environments.Strong NYC construction/project experience preferred.Experience collaborating with electrical contractors strongly preferred.Preferred QualificationsExperience with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revizto, Bluebeam, BIM 360 / Client, Procore.Experience supporting mission-critical or large commercial facilities.Experience leading BIM teams and mentoring junior engineers.Strong understanding of field installation coordination and construction workflows.Work EnvironmentOnsite/project-based role in Queens County, NY.Frequent collaboration with field teams and multidisciplinary stakeholders.Fast-paced construction and engineering environment.Frequent travel to project sites as required.
