SR. BACKEND ENGINEER

As a Sr. Backend Engineer, candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining robust data pipelines and ETL processes that power analytics and reporting across programs. Candidate will also develop and optimize complex SQL queries to support large-scale educational data analysis and take responsibility for creating design specifications, unit testing, and preparing technical documentation. Candidate will ensure relationships with product, research, and program teams are professional and meet expectations.

The Sr. Backend Engineer, will design, develop and implement solutions, based on a set of standards and processes which establish consistency across the enterprise data, reduce risk, and promote efficiencies in support of the organization’s goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have designed, developed and implemented serverless software solutions in support of data quality and automation. The candidate will also possess technical skills and experience in the data management domain that will help their ability to design and develop elegant and efficient data processes and systems.

Team:

This team is working on internal user-facing products/programs mainly used by data scientists and research for modeling and analysis. The team operates within a continues delivery approach focusing on continuous learning, stakeholder partnership and continuous improvement. The hiring manager is looking for highly motivated engineers with solid communication skills that can operate with minimal guidance. Someone that can hit the ground running and is comfortable engaging with their teams remotely.

• AWS Dynamo
• AWS Lambda
• AWS S3
• AWS - SNS/SQS
• Node.js
• Python
• React js
• SQL

Required Skills:

• Strong experience in full-stack development.
• Strong experience in React and TypeScript.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Solid experience with Node.js backend development.
• Experience working with AWS services and deploying applications to AWS.
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with automated testing (E2E and API testing).
• Familiarity with AWS CDK or CloudFormation.
• Experience with event-driven architectures.
• Experience working in Agile environments.

Education/Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or other advanced degree(s).
• Relevant AWS or other professional certifications.
