The Sr. Director of Life Enrichment is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the Life Enrichment Department and its staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and implement overarching strategies for life enrichment across the facility, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and resident needs.
• Oversee the creation and continuous improvement of life enrichment programs that cater to the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive well-being of residents.
• Supervise and mentor the Life Enrichment Department and staff, facilitating professional development and ensuring high standards of program delivery.
• Responsible for the financial planning and budget allocation for the Life Enrichment Department, ensuring resources are optimally utilized to maximize resident satisfaction.
• Ensure all life enrichment activities comply with state and federal regulations, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and program execution.
• Collaborate with other departments such as Resident Care, Culinary, and Facilities to integrate life enrichment activities with broader care and service plans.
• Oversee the planning and coordination of special events such as holiday celebrations, outings, and themed parties, ensuring they are accessible and enjoyable for all residents.
• Foster relationships with local organizations, schools, and volunteer groups to enhance program offerings and community integration for residents.
• Stay informed about the latest trends in elder care and therapeutic recreation to continually enhance program offerings.
• We need to coordinate the response to emergencies related to resident activities, ensuring safety and continuity of care.
• Regularly solicit and incorporate feedback from residents, families, and staff to improve the quality and relevance of life enrichment programs.

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work, Gerontology, or a related healthcare field.
• Extensive industry experience of at least 7-10 years in life enrichment or recreational therapy, with a significant portion of that time in a leadership or management role within elderly care settings.
• Proven leadership experience leading and managing large teams, with a track record
• Experience in managing large budgets, with a proven ability to allocate resources efficiently and effectively.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Comprehensive understanding of the aging process, the specific needs of elderly residents, especially those with cognitive impairments, and best practices in elder care.
• In-depth knowledge of the regulations and compliance requirements specific to assisted living and memory care facilities.
• Expertise in designing, evaluating, and improving life enrichment programs tailored to enhance the quality of life for residents.
• Exceptional skills and leading large team Strategic planning and managing complex organizational structures.
• Proficient financial planning and resource allocation to maximize the impact of life enrichment programs on a tight budget.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including staff, residents, their families, and external partners, ensuring clear and motivational interactions.
• Ability to envision and implement innovative and effective strategies that enhance life enrichment offerings and align with the facility's overall mission.
• Capable of quickly adapting to challenges and changing conditions in the healthcare environment while maintaining a focus on high quality resident care and satisfaction.
• Deep empathy and understanding of resident needs with the ability to foster a supportive and engagement environment that respects the dignity and individuality of each resident.
