We pride ourselves on financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and responsive service to our members.Position SummaryThe Senior Accountant plays a critical role in our Finance & Accounting team, managing month-end close, general ledger maintenance, regulatory reporting, and internal controls for a growing credit union. This role reports to the Accounting Manager or AVP, Finance & Accounting, and collaborates across departments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process: prepare journal entries, post adjustments, and analyze P&L and balance sheet variances under GAAPManage general ledger and bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely mannerPrepare and analyze financial statements and management reports, offering variance analysis andHandle planning, forecasting and variance analysis for various functional areas.Support internal and external audits, exams, and testing; respond to audit inquiries with appropriate documentation and schedulesDocument, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, advising on risk reduction and process efficiencyProvide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, cross-train where applicable, and coordinate tasks to support continuityParticipate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives, such as process automation, systems integration, or profitability modelingQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a credit union, bank, or similar financial institutionDeep knowledge of GAAP and credit union-specific accounting practices and regulatory requirements (e.g.
