SQL Server Database AdministratorThe Database Administrator will be part of a team responsible for the administration of centrally managed database platforms. The DBA will use their technical expertise and experience related to all aspects of database administration in Oracle to complement and raise the level of service the team provides.Position FocusWork as part of a team of database administrators to ensure the security, health, efficiency, and reliability of our platforms in a dynamic 24-7-365 production data center and/or cloud hybrid environment.Provide performance tuning, capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and automation guidance for systems and applications. Collaborate with other departments in ITS on cross-team efforts and incident/problem resolution.Effectively prioritize and manage concurrent assignments, bringing them to successful completion with minimal supervision.Leverage past experiences to improve the environment and related processes.Work closely with technical owners of applications to plan, standardize, and automate procedures.Prepare and enhance documentation to support procedures in Database Administration.Participate in groups/committees related to processes, standards and best practices and ensure documentation is up to date.Participate in cross-functional technical projects that require foundational platform as a component of the solution.Perform off-shift work and participate in rotating on-call coverage.Skills/Knowledge/Abilities RequiredSQL Server administration experiencePrevious working experience with Unix platforms including automation through scripting.Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQLPrevious working experience with PowerShell scripting and T-SQL.Demonstrated analytical and creative problem-solving skills.Experience with performance tuning, configuration and monitoringMust be able to work collaboratively as well as independently.Proven self-starter able to set priorities and manage workload to meet those priorities.Experience in an environment where change control procedures (especially ITIL) are in use.Demonstrated ability to develop and document complex procedures.Excellent communication and organizational skillsNice to have:Experience with Oracle Databases 11g and beyondExperience with Oracle Fusion Middleware is desiredFamiliarity with Talend, Layer7, Axway MFT, Ellucian Banner and Autosys is a plus.Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field and 2-5 years of related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
