QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED: Valid N.Y.S. teaching certificate in the Teacher of Speech and HearingHandicapped/ Speech and Language Disabilities area
QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED:
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in New York State(strongly preferred).
Strong diagnostic abilitiesto assess individual students' communication skills and monitor progress using a variety of assessment tools.
Desire and knowledge to balance students' social/emotional and academic/intellectual needs.
Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration withparents, staff and students.
Team-oriented mindsetwith the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary academic teams in lesson and therapy planning.
Knowledge of strategies to supportthe areas of literacy and writing.
Comprehensive knowledge of therapy planningthat incorporates diverse learning modalities and differentiated instructional outcomes; skilled in using assessments to guide and adjust individualized therapeutic approaches.
