Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Pediatrics Rehab team. This role will be Full-Time, Day Shift, Four 10 hour days (7:45am-6:15pm) or Five 8 hour days (7:45am-4:15pm) including a weekend day as part of the weekly schedule

Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital is a children's hospital that provides pediatric care in Northern Virginia. The pediatric rehab team provides therapy services to the 226-bed pediatric hospital which includes a level IV NICU, PICU, Cardiac Unit, Intermediate Care Unit, Medical/Surgical Unit, and Hematology/Oncology/Orthopedic and Trauma Unit.

Speech Pathologist (SLP) Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in patient evaluation treatment and documentation.
  • Collaborates with the patient and/or family whenever possible to set treatment priorities and select activities that maximize participation in the treatment process as evidenced by feedback and observation.
  • Demonstrates creativity, diversity and resourcefulness to gain patient involvement, to accommodate special circumstances or needs of the patient or adapt the treatment environment to optimize patient responses evidenced by team feedback and observation.
  • Provides clinical mentoring and operational guidance, education, and/or supervision to new or less experienced staff, students and support personnel. Acts as an approachable, tactful mentor in all situations. Takes a proactive role with new or inexperienced staff in developing their clinical and administrative skills as evidenced by staff feedback and outcomes of mentoring efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Sciences Disorders accredited by ASHA
  • Licensure : VA License required, Provisional VA license accepted if candidate is being considered for Clinical fellowship (Must be eligible for full active VA licensure upon completion of CFY.)
  • Certification : BLS from the American Heart Association upon start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of NICU infant feeding experience
