Job Overview
Provides direct patient care services to individuals exhibiting communication and/or swallowing disorders. Coordinates services with other health professionals. May assist in the training and supervision of students.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- NJ State Speech‑Language Pathology License or eligible
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association or eligible
- Speech Correctionist or Speech‑Language Specialist Certificate
- Member of ASHA
- AHA BLS Provider Certification
- Evidence of continuing education to meet licensing requirements
- Thorough knowledge of theoretical principles and clinical application in diagnosis and management of communication and swallowing disorders
- Tact, initiative and judgment in performing duties
Preferred Qualifications
- Student clinical experience in pediatrics; rehabilitation experience
- Knowledge of normal development
Certifications and Licenses Required
- NJ State Speech‑Language Pathology License or eligible
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association or eligible
- Speech Correctionist or Speech‑Language Specialist Certificate
- Member of ASHA
- AHA BLS Provider Certification
Scheduling Requirements
- Part Time
- 25 hours/week
Essential Functions
- Delivers effective therapeutic services relevant to the population served and remains knowledgeable of current techniques
- Communicates speech‑language evaluations that accurately and efficiently identify strengths and needs; conveys information verbally and in writing
- Completes basic competencies for the population served as indicated on the competence criteria for Speech & Hearing Dept. and hospital competencies
- Meets productivity demands by proactively seeking opportunities when cancellations, no shows, and low census occur
- Effectively shares information regarding therapy/evaluation techniques and/or hospital procedures with students, volunteers, CFY's and peers
- Participates in departmental projects aligned with department and hospital goals and missions
- Communicates job‑specific concerns and participates in developing solutions
- Provides in‑service training to staff and community as requested and completes training commenced with state license laws
- Completes written work in a timely manner relevant to evaluation, therapy, patient coordination, and meets ASHA specifications
