The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

Provides direct patient care services to individuals exhibiting communication and/or swallowing disorders. Coordinates services with other health professionals. May assist in the training and supervision of students.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
• NJ State Speech‑Language Pathology License or eligible
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association or eligible
• Speech Correctionist or Speech‑Language Specialist Certificate
• Member of ASHA
• AHA BLS Provider Certification
• Evidence of continuing education to meet licensing requirements
• Thorough knowledge of theoretical principles and clinical application in diagnosis and management of communication and swallowing disorders
• Tact, initiative and judgment in performing duties

Preferred Qualifications

• Student clinical experience in pediatrics; rehabilitation experience
• Knowledge of normal development

Certifications and Licenses Required

• NJ State Speech‑Language Pathology License or eligible
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association or eligible
• Speech Correctionist or Speech‑Language Specialist Certificate
• Member of ASHA
• AHA BLS Provider Certification

Scheduling Requirements

• Part Time
• 25 hours/week

Essential Functions

• Delivers effective therapeutic services relevant to the population served and remains knowledgeable of current techniques
• Communicates speech‑language evaluations that accurately and efficiently identify strengths and needs; conveys information verbally and in writing
• Completes basic competencies for the population served as indicated on the competence criteria for Speech & Hearing Dept. and hospital competencies
• Meets productivity demands by proactively seeking opportunities when cancellations, no shows, and low census occur
• Effectively shares information regarding therapy/evaluation techniques and/or hospital procedures with students, volunteers, CFY's and peers
• Participates in departmental projects aligned with department and hospital goals and missions
• Communicates job‑specific concerns and participates in developing solutions
• Provides in‑service training to staff and community as requested and completes training commenced with state license laws
• Completes written work in a timely manner relevant to evaluation, therapy, patient coordination, and meets ASHA specifications
