Daily Rate Pay Range: Minimum: $272.11, Maximum: $379.65
Job Description
To conduct appropriate therapy services to students with communication disorders, and to promote a positive working relationship among and between staff by establishing a climate conducive to open communication and productivity, so our students practice communication skills confidently and efficiently across the curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Keep informed about current legislation, educational developments, literature and research in special education by participating in state and national professional organizations; attend appropriate conferences and staff development sessions; disseminate professional information and materials to the schools.
- Provide quality and structured therapy services as recommended by the student’s Individual Education Plan both direct and/or consult, and support IEP progress by maintaining therapy notes and collaborating with SLP on student progress.
- Develop and maintain a daily schedule of services, and organize time efficiently.
- Maintain individual student records as required by local, state and federal guidelines.
- Maintain a professional relationship with administrators, staff, and support personnel.
- Utilize and maintain assistive technology devices.
- Assist in trainings for parents, teachers, and staff.
- Plan curricular/instructional modifications to ensure student classroom success, and implement individual educational plans per recommendations from SLP.
- Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorder, required.
- Certification: Texas State License in Speech Language Pathology Assistant, required.
- Special Knowledge/Skills: Communicate effectively (English/Spanish, verbal and written); utilize effective interpersonal skills; able to communicate in sign language, preferred.
- Experience: Externship in the clinical/educational setting in the areas of communication disorders, preferred.

Computer, voice output devices, computer-based programs.
Working Conditions
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; meet deadlines.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent district-wide travel and occasional state travel.
