Speech Language Pathologist

Job Summary: The Speech Pathologist will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech or language disorders, and formulate individualized treatment programs.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, hearing, cognitive, or swallowing issues.
  • Under a physician’s direction, provide direct patient/resident treatment based on an established plan of care.
  • Screen and evaluate residents and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Plan, direct, or conduct rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems.
  • Administer, score, and interpret specialized hearing and speech tests.
  • Instruct residents, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.
  • Complete required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
  • Maintain patient records in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Devise special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients.

  • Knowledge and skills to care for patient needs of the SNF population.
  • Must possess problem‑solving skills to successfully perform the job.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees, patients, and family members.
  • Must be able to travel as needed to perform the job.

Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Master’s or Doctorate in Speech Language Pathology.
  • State license as a speech pathologist required.
  • Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
