Job Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates and provides therapy services to students with speech, language, and communication disorders that impact educational performance. This position collaborates with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized plans, supports the special education process, and maintains compliance with all applicable regulations.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Speech Pathology
  • South Carolina Certification, or eligible for certification
  • Experience, preferred

Performance Responsibilities

  • Screen, evaluate, and diagnose speech/language disorders and determine student eligibility for enrollment in the speech/language program
  • Develop goals, objectives, methods, and materials to assist students in achieving their highest potential
  • Ensure correct implementation of the students' IEP goals and objectives
  • Provides speech/language services in full compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
  • Maintain student records in compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
  • Create an instructional environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
  • Establish and communicate to students and parents clear and appropriate rules and consequences for student behavior and enforces rules in a fair and consistent manner
  • Consult with principals, clinicians, teachers, parents, and other agencies, as needed
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competency
  • Attend school and district staff meetings and serve on committees, as required
  • Participate in staff development programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal and the Director of Special Services
