Onsite Full Time Bio & Pharmacology & Health

  • Provide direct speech/language pathology services to referred patients of all ages
  • Plan individualized, age-appropriate treatment programs based on referrals, evaluations, patient/family goals, clinical judgment, and pertinent information
  • Maintain a productive schedule averaging 6.0 of 8.0 hours per day in direct clinical care
  • Inform the manager of schedule openings and cancellations
  • Administer daily treatment and adjust treatment plans to changing patient needs
  • Complete competency assessments related to patient care
  • Provide special services such as video swallow studies
  • Communicate with physicians, team members, professionals, families, and caregivers to support optimum patient care
  • Establish rapport with patients and provide education to patients and families
  • Select and instruct patients on appropriate assistive devices
  • Determine readiness for discharge and plan discharge, including home treatment plans or continued services
  • Administer and interpret initial assessments of communication, cognition, swallowing, articulation, fluency, and voice functions
  • Select assessment procedures for patients' abilities and limitations
  • Complete documentation according to departmental policy
  • Perform charge entry, maintain a clean work environment, and participate in committees and program development
  • May supervise speech pathology students and interns after obtaining Certificate of Clinical Competence

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Successfully complete all competency assessments related to patient care
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence required before supervising speech pathology students and interns
  • Ability to provide speech/language pathology services to infants, children, adolescents, and adults depending on assignment
  • Ability to perform video swallow studies and swallowing assessments
  • Ability to assess verbal expression, non-verbal communication, auditory comprehension, written expression, reading comprehension, cognition, swallowing, articulation, fluency, and voice
  • Ability to select and use appropriate evaluation procedures, treatment programs, and assistive devices
