The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) performs comprehensive speech therapy services to Monarch School students/families and outpatient clients from the greater community. The SLP is considered a member of the Therapy Services Department and reports directly to the Coordinator of Therapy Services

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Communication Disorders, from an accredited speech-language pathology program.
  • Current speech-language pathologist license issued from the Texas State Committee of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience, working with children with neurological differences.
  • ASHA certification preferred.
  • DIR training and experience preferred.

  • Understands and supports the implementation of the Monarch Integrated Methodology.
  • Develops a comprehensive Speech/Language treatment plan for students/clients based on evidence-based evaluation instruments and processes.
  • Collects data and documents performance on goals/objectives.
  • Maintains timely and comprehensive clinical records.
  • Reports clients’ progress in designated format, i.e., progress notes, progress reports and parent and faculty communications at specific intervals and in a timely manner.
  • Assists clients in preparation of insurance reimbursement statements.
  • Consults collegially with Monarch School faculty on the behalf of the student/client, for Speech/Language/Communication issues.
  • Provides strategies and carry-over activities for the home and/or classroom.
  • Participates in continuing professional education for the improvement of the school and institute.
  • Keeps licensure/certification current and documented with HR.
  • Provides training and guidance to students and interns.
  • Enthusiastically supports the Development office by introducing friends to the Monarch School and Institute, and supporting events throughout the year by attendance and solicitation.
  • The certified and licensed speech-language pathologist shall abide by the Texas Board of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists rules relating to scope of practice and ethics.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires occasional to frequent lifting up to 25-50 pounds; prolonged standing frequent walking, stooping and squatting.
