Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

Reports To: Director of Special Education Work Days: 192 Days

Department/School: Administration Building Date Revised: 08/2025

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose

Provide speech and language therapy. Submit required paperwork within district timelines. Consult and collaborate with district staff and parents to provide appropriate speech programs for students within the Galena Park ISD.

Qualifications
Minimum Education/Certification

Bachelor's degree in speech language pathology or related field.

Valid Texas license as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

Special Knowledge/Skills

Knowledge of remediation practices for speech and language disorders.

Strong consultation skills for conferencing with parents, students and other staff members.

Ability to collect, interpret and report data.

Knowledge of legal mandates related to provision of speech services in the public schools.

Knowledge of best practices in the field of speech pathology.

Minimum Experience

One year of public school experience preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

1. Submit billing information in accordance with district timelines.

2. Provide speech therapy in accordance with ARD stated time.

3. Follow campus and district policies.

4. Attend district trainings as requested.

5. Collaborate with district staff to ensure appropriate service delivery.

6. Attend trainings and disseminate pertinent information to district staff.

7. Maintain appropriate licensure and certification.

8. Implement district RtI (Response to Intervention) programs in accordance with district guidelines.

9. Comply with state and federal mandates.

10. Effectively communicate with colleagues, students and parents.

11. Demonstrate professional, ethical and responsible behavior.

12. Serve on district speech teams as assigned (PPCD evaluation, AT team) 13. Other duties as assigned.

Ability to effectively manage timelines as assigned.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Possible in district travel, moderate lifting and carrying.
