Scope of Work

The Specialty Nurse is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and ongoing operations of specialized cardiovascular programs, with an initial focus on the Resistant Hypertension, Prevention and Renal Denervation Clinics. This role serves as a clinical resource for patients, providers, and multidisciplinary team members while coordinating care across the continuum to improve patient outcomes and access to specialty services.
The Specialty Nurse will assist in identifying, triaging, and managing patients who may benefit from advanced hypertension interventions, while also evaluating and coordinating referrals to preventive cardiology services. The position requires flexibility to support additional specialty programs within the department and provide cross-coverage during periods of staff absence, including vacations, PTO, and leaves of absence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.N., M.S.N., or DNP/PhD) required from an NLN approved school of nursing
  • 3 years of recent relevant acute care nursing experience, required
  • State of Michigan Registered Nurse license, required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support certification, required
  • Specialty certification, required within 1 year of hire
