Job Description

This role is field‑based, and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. The duties include executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing sales performance, effectively managing assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and addressing customer needs to maximize short and long‑term sales performance while operating within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, and other key metrics to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre‑call plans and execute post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Handle objections and concerns consistently to gain logical calls to action and close on each sales call.
  • Proactively serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges, building trusted relationships and achieving win‑win agreements.
  • Develop and execute call plans that achieve set call metrics, optimize coverage and frequency to key customers, and maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs and expectations, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, disease state, product and clinical expertise, and share market intelligence with in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager to align strategy and anticipate environmental changes.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with providers, and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business‑related field preferred or related industry experience; high school diploma/GED required.
  • At least five (5) years of experience with at least three (3) years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred.
  • Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts quickly to all aspects of selling approach.
  • Operates effectively in a matrix environment, offering innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities.
  • Demonstrates in‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource; strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team; leads by example and displays positive behaviors and peer coaching.
  • Preferred: Proven track record of sales performance within relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account‑based selling, training, managed health care or marketing.
  • English language proficiency, spoken and written.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements, including background checks, drug screens, immunization, fingerprinting, and state or city licences. Responsible for maintaining all credentials.
  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements.
