TITLE: Specialty Clinic Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Grant Regional Community Specialty Clinic

POSITION STATUS/HOURS: Part-time .80 FTE (64 hours/pay period)

n

Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

n

Position is 4 days per week. Days off are flexible to meet the needs of the department. Benefit eligible!

n

JOB SUMMARY:

n

The Specialty Clinic MA/CNA will work with multiple providers in the specialty clinic. Work schedule subject to change to meet the needs of the clinic/patients. The employee must have flexibility to work Monday-Friday.

n

ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:

n

The Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will work in the Grant Regional Specialty Clinic and will:

n

• Work with multiple physicians, mid-level providers, RN, LPN, CMA and registration staff in a pod nursing environment

n

• Room patients, prepare for visit, and assist provider with patient care, visit, and flow

n

• Perform tasks such as specimen collection/testing/recording of results/labeling, vision/color testing, cultures, hematology testing, glucose testing, pregnancy testing, etc

n

• Assist, prepare, and administer immunizations and other injections; administer medications by all routes excluding intravenous infusion, as directed

n

• Assist with suturing and casting; ear and eye irrigations; staple/suture removal and dressing changes; set up surgical tray and assist with minor office surgeries

n

• Office skills: answer phone, take/return accurate messages; phone prescriptions to pharmacy, telephone lab/test results to patient

n

• Obtain insurance authorizations

n

• Work with other health care providers to assist in the provision of delegated aspects of patient care

n

• Use basic communication skills to enhance a patient’s expression of needs

n

• Organize, within the specified work period, those delegated aspects of care for which he/she is accountable

n

• Ensure patient satisfaction by providing kind, attentive and conscientious care

n

• Assist with other duties as time permits

n

QUALIFICATIONS:

n

The candidate will be a graduate from a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant Program with 2+ years previous clinic experience preferred. Certification by American Association of Medical Assistants as a CMA preferred if MA applicant. Current CNA certificate status active or remains eligible per Wisconsin Registry guidelines. CPR certification is required (or completed within 60 days of hire). In addition, the candidate must exhibit a professional manner; display strong decision-making skills within his/her scope of practice, demonstrate good organizational skills, be flexible and display strong interpersonal skills.
