This role is going to be onsite in Middletown, CT.Specialized Machinist Summary:Work under the general direction of a Cell Operations Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of employees assigned to a production cellPlan, lead, and supervise assigned functions within the Manufacturing Operations Team to manufacture and deliver products in accordance with contractual and related requirements, including quality, procurement regulations, program requirements, cost control/budgets, engineering change control, and environmental complianceIn the absence of the Group Leader, perform a wide range of machining operations, operate equipment, and oversee product quality and workmanshipSchedule, assign, and monitor work within the cell to meet program objectivesManage assigned program budgets, costs to complete, and compliance with quality systems requirements and proceduresEstablish and maintain metrics to track performance in quality, schedule, cost, and continuous improvement through lean enterprise practicesDetermine needs and provide justification for production tooling upgrades and changesPlan for manpower needs and fill deficiencies as needed in consultation with the Group LeaderMonitor and analyze production processes within the team to ensure work orders are followed properly, takt time is achieved, and required paperwork is completed accuratelyCollaborate with Group Leaders to address production and operational issuesInterface with assembly, test, and support groups to optimize workflow and manpower loadingSupport the development and control of manufacturing EAC program budgetsIdentify quality issues in the production process and assist in developing and implementing resolutions and preventative measuresEstablish and maintain effective communication within and between functional groups and management to resolve issuesPlan and determine manpower requirements based on forecastsMonitor cost control by scheduling appropriate use of manpower and balancing production needs with overtime requirementsOversee the development and revision of assembly and production proceduresMaintain high performance standards through employee evaluations and training to ensure continuous improvement and complianceConduct employee performance appraisals and provide input for merit increasesMaintain a properly cross-trained staff to support production needs in accordance with company policyPrepare and complete product quotes and estimatesLead and/or participate in process improvement efforts to enhance program quality, cost, and schedulingEnsure coordination and integration of workflow with continuous improvement through lean activitiesSupport company initiatives, including ISO 9000 and Statistical Process Control (SPC), to ensure continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and productsSupport all environmental and safety standards and promote a safe work environmentProvide leadership in the prevention of damaged goodsSupport quality and manufacturing engineering functions, including CDRL items, customer reviews, engineering change proposals, waivers/deviations, non-conforming material, and procurement quality requirementsMaintain and monitor visual management systems and collaborate with support departments to improve company systems and performanceInterview, hire, appraise, and develop department personnel in accordance with company policies and applicable lawsGuide subordinate Group Leaders on personnel-related mattersMaintain an adequately trained staffAssist management in establishing and maintaining departmental procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards, company policies, ISO standards, and contract requirementsSupport the enforcement of standards, policies, and proceduresTravel as requiredPerform special projects and other duties as assigned
