Position Summary
The Technical Application Group (TAG) Specialist supports product development, renovation, scale-up, industrialization, and technology transfer of nutritional and solid dose products, including capsules and tablets. This role bridges Product Development and Manufacturing to ensure formulations and processes are successfully transferred from laboratory and pilot scale into commercial production. The position is hands-on within both laboratory and manufacturing environments and collaborates cross-functionally to improve products, resolve manufacturing issues, optimize processes, and support commercialization. This is an onsite, Monday-Friday role at our manufacturing location in Boca Raton, FL.
Responsibilities
- Support product development, renovation, and formulation optimization across formats (solid dose, liquid RTD, powders)
- Design and execute formulation studies, development trials, and industrial trials
- Support scale-up, validation, and production startup activities from pilot to commercial manufacturing
- Assist with technology transfer to internal sites and external manufacturers (CMOs), including documentation
- Prepare and maintain technical and manufacturing documentation (batch records, specifications, protocols, change controls)
- Define and support manufacturing processes, equipment parameters, and operational controls
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and process issues and implement corrective actions
- Apply scientific principles and material characteristics to formulation and manufacturing processes
- Analyze and report data to support process improvements and statistical evaluation
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, GMP, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, Supply Chain, R&D, Marketing, Finance) to resolve product, process, and supply issues
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance product quality, yield, and efficiency
- Provide technical support for investigations, risk assessments, and process improvements
- Engage with suppliers and external partners and stay current on industry trends
- Communicate project updates, risks, and changes to stakeholders and management
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Food Science, or related technical field
1+ year of experience in product development, process development, scale-up, or technology transfer
Experience with development and characterization of nutritional or solid dose products
Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial trials
Familiarity with solid dose manufacturing processes (blending, encapsulation, tablet compression, coating preferred)
Knowledge of laboratory activities, Quality by Design, Operational Excellence, and process capability concepts (e.g., statistical process control, process robustness)
Proficiency with MS Office and Excel
Ability to perform data collection, analysis, and reporting
Travel: 5%
Ability to work in environments with exposure to powders, chemicals, and allergens
