Billing SpecialistPay rate: $18.51 - $24.76 an hour, depending on experience and qualificationsPosition SummaryRosalind Franklin University Health Clinics is seeking to fill a full-time Billing Specialist. The Billing Specialist is responsible for gathering charge information, coding, entering charges into billing software, resolving outstanding balances with patients, and third-party payers to bring resolution to accounts.This role is a hybrid role with 3 days in office and 2 days remote once training has been completed. RFUHC physicians are leaders and innovators in their specialties, offering patients access to the latest advances in podiatry, physical therapy, behavioral health, and reproductive medicine.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesResearch all information needed to complete the billing process including obtaining charge information from all providersPrepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software to include electronic and paper claimsReview patient bills for accuracy, completeness, and obtain any missing information, when appropriateFollow-up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframeAssist with coding and error resolutionReview accounts for insurance and patient follow-upInvestigate and appeal denied claimsCall patients to collect on outstanding balancesAnswer all patient or insurance inquiriesPerform other related duties as assigned or delegatedConditions of EmploymentMust achieve satisfactory results from a background checkCompliance with the current clinic vaccination policyRequired Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED Equivalent.Minimum two years of medical billing, coding and AR experience.Required Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesKnowledge of health care billing/coding practices, regulations, and lawsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to multi-taskProficient in using computer programs and calculatorsAbility to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasksAbility to examine documents for accuracyPreferred QualificationsCertification from a nationally recognized medical billing and coding certifying agencyExperience with AthenaTypical Physical Demands & Working ConditionsSelected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.EOE, Including Disability / Vets
