Job Title
Deputies in the Special Prosecutions Section are experienced criminal trial attorneys who work independently in the prosecution of complex, multi-jurisdictional criminal cases including various forms of fraud, AB 1506 officer-involved fatal shooting incidents, tax evasion and underground economy violations, human trafficking, organized retail theft, fentanyl trafficking, and political corruption. Section deputies coordinate with teams of legal, auditing, and law enforcement professionals and handle every stage of investigation and prosecution from referral to jury trial, and may be tasked to assist multiagency task forces, such as the Tax Recovery in the Underground Economy (TRUE) task force, and other law enforcement agencies. Deputies are required to travel to fully participate in investigations and prosecutions in multiple jurisdictions as well as participate in rotating on-call rotations for response to officer-involved shootings.
